Prof Macleans Mzumara has held several positions in Africa and North America. He has also taught in several universities in Africa and North America. Some of the organizations he has been associated with include: North America Free Trade Agreement, NAFTA Secretariat in Washington DC, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Massachusetts Port Authority International Trade Development Department and New York Life Insurance Company. He is a Visiting Professor at the Catholic University of Mozambique.
He was a member of Technical Working Group in Regional Integration in Eastern and Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean under the auspices of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), African Development Bank and the European Commission. He was involved in the negotiations for the Treaty for the establishment of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Trade Protocol. He has been a consultant to the European Commission.
He holds a PhD (Economics), two Masters Degrees in Economics and a Bachelor degree. He has attended several international universities in Africa, Asia and North America namely Bhopal University, Boston University, Central Michigan University, New School University and North-West University. He is a prolific international author of four books and one of them is used as a text book in the universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
